19th Century French Renaissance Etagere Buffet ~ Console was designed as a statement piece, indeed!  The open, airy visual effect is unusual for the style, with three broad surfaces perfect for display or entertaining.  The broadly rounded sides eliminate sharp corners in the traffic flow of the room, and the width of over six and a half feet makes it perfect for a grand room or hallway.  However, it's the cared detail that truly sets it apart, with demilune gadrooning on the edges, elegant corbels, della robia and grapevines across the drawer tier performed by an obviously talented wood sculptor.  Even the rounded sides are treated in the same manner as the main facade for continuity.  Four columns with pediments in front provide ample support making it free standing.  A brace of spacious drawers only adds to the appeal!
