19th Century French Gothic Confiturier ~ Cabinet is a stunning example of the revival of the oldest official French style, with origins dating back to the middle of the 12th century! The intriguing half-octagon shape of the casework presents an intriguing facade from all viewing angles, and eliminates sharp corners. Every flat panel is lavished with intricately stylized naturalistic forms appearing within the framework of moorish arches and spires. Taking center stage, however, is the cabinet door itself which is centered with a quatrefoil set in an intricately detailed framework, and flanked by pilasters on each side that are carved with ripe wheat motif, then topped with half-spires which extend up into the cabinet on each side of the finely carved drawer above. Steel key guard features a fleur-de-lys design, and the drawer bale pull a spiral twist for added visual appeal. Door opens to reveal surprising storage for a piece only 15" in total depth!
