19th Century French Louis XVI Oval Nightstand is a gracefully executed transitional piece, combining a neoclassical essence with the elegance of four subtly scrolled cabriole legs and an oval casework to create a wonderfully versatile companion for the bedroom or any seating group.  Hand-crafted and carved from sumptous French walnut, each leg is tied to the casework with carved foliate flourishes transitioning to spiral ribbon corners leading up to boldly carved rosettes.  The rich grain of the highly desirable walnut is expertly presented, including the oval top itself.  The front consists of a cabinet door curved to follow the oval contour and carved with a floral wreath with ribbon framed by beaded trim.  The door opens to reveal a nice storage space lined in marble.  A single drawer above adds convenience.
