PAIR 19th Century Solid Marble Louis XVI Pedestals ~ Columns were designed to provide symmetry while displaying a particularly special work of art, sculpture, vase or other keepsake. Designed in the neoclassical style, each features a hand-carved double circular row of meandros, or Greek key motifs, and the solid marble columns rest upon a double tier of molded detail set atop an octagonal base. The squared top has mitered corners to eliminate sharp edges, and is allowed to swivel so one can admire all three dimensions of the artwork displayed upon it.
Very unusual to find in a surviving pair!
Circa 1850s
Each measures 39.5H x 10W x 10D
