19th Century French Renaissance Carved Walnut Bookcase ~ Vitrine is an amazing example of the wood sculptor's art! The entire framework, each door, and all moldings have been carved to an amazing degree of detail and artistry. Starting at the crown molding which displays four distinct design patterns including acanthus leaves in realistic detail, the work continues down on all facades, with intricate foliates, scrollwork and fleurs de lys in prominent display surrounding the total of twelve glass panes. Carved columns serve as corner posts framing the work, lavished with laurels bearing berries in a spiral pattern from top to bottom, with acanthus capitals and pediments. The base molding is just as impressive as the crown above with different, yet complimentary molding details. Brass hinges and a brass astragal trim down the center of the door break completes the look. Doors open to reveal three surfaces with two being glass shelves, ensuring an abundance of ambient light all day and all night long. What a perfect way to display your finest collection, keepsakes and memorabilia!
