Requiring the talents of four master artisans, 19th Century French Marquetry Marble Top Bombe Commodes such as this example needed a talented menuisier to create the complex naturalistic, curved form of the case, followed by the ebeniste who applied marquetry in a purely artistic form, next followed by the metalsmith who applied bronze mounts custom-made for this particular piece, and lastly the stonemason who contoured and beveled a solid slab of marble for the perfect crown to the collaborative achievement!  The marquetry includes intricately contoured and embellished frameworks around the centered focal point which are three unique floral bouquets on each side and in front.  The heavy cast bronze bale pulls with rosette guards are accentuated by the bronze mounts on the shoulders and on the front feet, the latter of which terminate in lion's paw motif.  Finely veined gray marble on top results in a carefree and color-neutral surface for you and your family to enjoy for generations to come!
