Grand French Louis XIV Serpentine Solid Walnut Buffet

Antique French Louis XIV Serpentine Walnut Buffet is an extraordinary example of the breed, with complex contours and naturalistic form combined with artistic sculptural adornment to create a visual treasure!  With no straight lines in the design, the top has been contoured to follow the serpentine sides and concave plus convex front facade, with protruding rounded corner post caps at each juncture.  The top tier consists of three spacious drawers, each flanked by rosettes carved onto the curved surfaces of the corner posts, and fitted with jewelry quality cast bronze pulls and key guards.  The cabinet tier below is comprised of the two finely molded serpentine side panels, and three graciously carved doors flanked by rounded and carved corner posts, and featuring elaborate floral garland and stylized shell motifs for a truly regal presence.  Complementary carvings appear on the six scrolled legs below supporting an elegantly contoured apron, with each tipped with escargot feet.  Bold brass key guards and brass hinges accent the doors which open to reveal a cavernous interior with full and half shelves for amazing versatility!
