Antique French Louis XVI Mahogany Buffet with Carrara Marble is a remarkable example of refined neoclassical design! The rounded sides provide a deceptive width which is just shy of seven feet wide. The casework features four doors, with broad radius curvatures on the outboard doors and the center doors with subtle curved portions of the doors closest to the hinges to create a smooth, flowing look. Four drawers on the top tier provide copious storage, with the outboard drawers pivoting out for access, and each drawer fitted with brass key guards and flanked by brass louver adornments. Matching key guards appear on the cabinet doors, which open wide to reveal abundant storage. The tailored design with molding used for framework more than embellishment allows one to more fully appreciate the sheer natural beauty of the imported mahogany. Brass collars and tips also adorn the supporting tapered legs. The most unusual aspect, however, is the extra-thick luxurious Carrara marble on top that has been meticulously contoured and beveled to follow the casework lines below, creating a carefree and elegant surface to display, serve, and entertain!
