Antique French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Serpentine Buffet is a marvelous example of the style, rendered in prized indigenous French walnut, and topped with exquisitely veined rouge marble!  The entire facade, including the sides, is of a serpentine form which is far more difficult to render, especially when one also forms the molding details and carves the panels like this example.  Stylized foliate and predominately shell motifs abound, while still allowing the sheer natural beauty of the sumptuous wood to take center stage.  Four cabinets, two drawers, and two pull out leather top surfaces all combine to create the ultimate in functionality, not the least of which is included the marble top, carefully contoured and beveled to precisely follow the intricate contours of the serpentine casework below.  What a masterpiece of the cabinetmaker's art!
