19th Century French Neoclassical Marble Top Buffet combines elegance with a soft, casual visual presence making it compatible with a wide variety of interior styles! The rounded sides belie the measurements, making it more space-friendly than the dimensions would indicate. Topped with luxuriously veined marble that has been meticulously beveled and contoured to follow the lines of the casework below, it features a four drawer upper tier that is remarkable. The side doors pivot out in elongated pie-shaped forms, with rosettes on the back side of the frame and quatrefoil overlay on the front to frame the arc of the curvature. Foliates and shells carved in fine relief accentuate the drawers, centered with a rectangular framework that accents the jewelry-quality cast bronze key guard. Not to be outdone, the two front-facing drawers although flat on the surface, still boast the same fine carved detail and bronze keyguards. The bold cabinet doors below immediately capture one's attention, with diamond forms accentuated with carved foliates that complement the drawers above but on a larger scale. The doors are framed by fluted pilasters that defined the facade, and are positioned to frame the openings on each side that are fully paneled and designed to display objets d'art, sculptures, vases, or other keepsakes. The bold base molding is of two tiers, with the upper tier an exaggerated linked Greek coin in a colonnade effect, with impressive baseboard appearing underneath to complete the look.
