19th Century French Louis XVI Marble Top Walnut Display Buffet is a stunning testament to the extraordinary level of artistry and craftsmanship attained by the master cabinetmakers of France at the fin de siecle. Utilizing beautifully figured indigenous walnut, the casework was made in the neoclassical design, with rectilinear form defined by two fluted pilasters flanking the center cabinet doors, and two fully formed tapered and fluted columns acting as cornerposts on each end. Above each is a corbel carved with acanthus plume, with yet another corbel separating the two center drawers. Drawer facades are framed in tailored trim and fitted with luxurious cast bronze bale pulls, complementing the bronze key guards on the cabinets below. The two center cabinets have been lavished with neoclassical designs, featuring raised panels, floral garlands and floral sprays, while the two outermost cabinets were designed for display as well as storage, with eight beveled panes of glass on each door. Bold base molding below is supported by six tapered and fluted legs, while the top is covered with an interesting gray marble with bold black veining for the perfect carefree yet elegant finishing touch!
