19th Century French Louis XIV Marble Top Buffet represents an elegant blend of neoclassical architecture and hand-carved embellishment inspired by the reign of the Sun King. Hand-crafted from solid oak, it features rounded sides eliminating sharp corners protruding into the traffic patterns of the room. Topped with exquisitely veined contoured and beveled marble, the top tier just under the marble surface is four drawers, the outermost of which are on pivots with an exterior that follows the curved contour. Each drawer is carved with shell and foliate motifs, then fitted with cast brass pulls and key guards. Of the four panels below that tier, the center-most two are large cabinet doors which are separated by the rounded side panels by carved pilasters topped with rosettes. Each lower panel is finely molded, raised and recessed with corners carved to match the adornment on the drawers above. A tailored base molding with turned bun feet complete the look. Doors open wide to reveal cavernous storage, yet one more benefit of this exceptional piece.
