18th Century Liegoise Louis XIV Buffet ~ Cabinet is an exceptional example of the finest European craftsmanship that has come from the storied region around Liege nestled in what is today the southeast corner of Belgium. This example features boldly mitered corners, which eliminate sharp corners in the traffic area of the room, and provide a panel for the wood sculptor to produce elegant scrolls and stylized shell forms. Bold base molding wraps around the bottom with bun feet in front, while the top portion of the design projects outward to create a crown molding form that contains two spacious drawers. The cabinet doors under the drawers boast the most carved detail, with elaborately molded raised & recessed panels carved with designs matching the mitered panels, and fitted with starburst brass guards behind the knobs which complement the brass key guards and the drawer bale pulls with shield guards above. Doors and drawers open to reveal capacious storage, which only adds to the allure. Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
