19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Armoire represents the epitome of understated neoclassical elegance! Meticulously hand-crafted from sumptuous French walnut by master craftsmen, the design features a boldly arched crown centered with a lavishly sculpted floral bouquet gathered by flowing ribbon. Tailored yet demonstrative molding extends down to the flats above the cornerposts, underneath which appear elegantly tapered and fluted full columns set in recessed niches and carved with acanthus frond capitals in deference to the Corinthian style, transitioning to a mid-level base of grander acanthus plumes over a lower fluted section that terminates in a base with upturned laurel leaves. The base is set upon a corner block fluted on the front and side, leading to the carved and tapered leg, of which there are four. The front legs frame the stately apron lavished with acanthus plumes in a scroll motif. The aforementioned columns frame the full length original beveled mirror mounted on the door, providing a lovely reflection of your room. The door opens to reveal a capacious interior with one adjustable shelf and an interior drawer under the lower shelf. Note the hand-beveled edging on the mirror that follows the subtle contours of the framework, adorned with foliate flourishes at each bottom corner. Truly a timeless look inspired by the ancient Greek and Roman master architects!
