19th Century French Napoleon III Period Gothic Revival Walnut Library Table is an amazing example of the revival of the oldest formal style to originate from France, dating to the mid 12th century! This example, rendered from sumptuous French walnut, features a luxurious surface bordered around all four edges with a classic Gothic laurel and foliate motif creating a zig-zag effect. Under the top appears on the sides colonnade arches carved with foliate accents and plinths on each corner fitted with pendant finials. The two plinths on each short side become the tops of the four main legs, each of which is carved with Corinthian capitals and four distinctively different geometric patterns carved all the way down each column down to the base. The base consists of a classic "H" structure with arched and curved feet carved with fishscale, and a colonnade trestle fitted with three additional uniquely carved smaller columns providing artful support down the center of the table. Truly a visual masterpiece when viewed from every angle, this table makes a great choice in any timeless decor, especially in the center of the room!
