19th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut Marble Top End Table represents the epitome of the style! Gracefully contoured top in the classic "violin" form includes a custom-cut piece of richly veined marble surrounded by multiple tiers of molded detail, with the top cove bevel highlighted in gold. The gold highlighting also accentuates the lavish carved detail below, which includes stylized and asymmetrical shells centered on each apron, and appearing at the pinnacle of the scrolled stretchers below. Wildflower sprays emanate from the shells on the apron, leading the eye to the exquisitely scrolled cabriole legs with shell, scrollwork and bell flower carvings suitably highlighted. The legs lead down to a scrolled foot with subtle upturned foliate. The sumptuousness of the French walnut is on full display and made even more exquisite by the artistry of the sculpted detail.
