19th Century French Louis XIV Hand-Carved Marble Top End Table is a remarkable example of incredible French craftsmanship and sculpting exhibited in a diminutive example of the cabinetmaker's art! Crafted from solid sumptuous French walnut, the frame features a gadrooned edging all around the luxuriously veined marble top. The top is supported by a brace of lavishly sculpted end supports, each pierce carved to accentuate the detail, and featuring a bold lion's head as the central focal point, surrounded by a variety of shell foliate and rosette designs. The legs continue down from the carved area and appropriately terminate in lion's paw feet, and are connected along the way with a beautifully carved stretcher adding strength and beauty with rosette designs forming a Greek coin pattern.
