19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Washstand ~ Dresser is an ode to a bygone era, when dressing in the morning was a complete ritual. A full-sized five drawer commode serves as the basis for the design, but it is topped with two-tiered marble and a tri-panel mirror allowing one to store clothes, set up a pitcher and bowl, put on makeup, touch up the hair, or just to add the finishing touch. The drawers are nice and deep, with two smaller ones at the top, but all feature carved embellishment across the facade accentuated with finely cast brass key guards. Even the undulating apron just underneath boasts complementary carved detail, and is supported by boldly scrolled and carved legs with escargot feet. The marble is a nice neutral color, and the lower tier completely covers the commode, while the top tier is recessed and supported all along the back and thanks to two scrolled side supports, also in marble. Ideal for setting makeup, a small bud vase, or anything, as the surface is virtually waterproof! Above the top tier of marble appears a tri-panel mirror framed in sumptuous walnut with embellishments on each side and all across the amazingly intricately contoured top, centered with the definitive rococo flair for which the Louis XV style is so celebrated.
