Antique Gilded Limoges Teapot by Giraud is a classic example of the extraordinary and luxurious porcelains created by the maker in the Limoges region of France where the traditions of the ceramic crafts go back to the late 1700s. This example features a pleated surface like gathered fabric, with a lid fitted with a knob that depicts a rose bud. The bright white porcelain can be seen inside and even when peering into the spout. Such works were completely hand-painted, and in this instance the painter signed the work A.S. on the bottom next to the stamp of the painter's employer, Giraud, a family that had its origins in the regional porcelain industry in the 1920s.
