19th Century Solid Copper Banquet Coffee Server was designed for commercial level service.  Copper exterior and tin lining ensured decades if not century of durability.  A large handled lid on top makes it easy to fill, and the over-engineered valve and spout with extension ensures the ability to tap the contents with ease and rapidity.  Destined for a fine hotel or a busy restaurant, such contrivances were hand-made and include riveted construction and sturdy appointments.  Note the strong, large handles allowing it to be removed for cleaning on a daily basis.  Even the handle to the lid is riveted in place, showing clearly the heavy duty nature of this artifact from a bygone era.
