Antique Country French Regence Walnut Commode was hand-crafted from the premier indigenous hardwood of Europe, sumptuous French walnut!  The beveled top features a subtle bowed contour along the front, with the remainder of the facade following the same form leading the eyes down to the elegantly scrolled cabriole legs with escargot feet framing a boldly scrolled apron lavished with relief carvings of a crest and wildflowers.  The two full width drawers feature a relatively restrained decorative appeal, with shield forms in triplicate defined by hand-carved molding detail, with the outermost fitted with luxurious cast bronze pulls and the centermost finely cast key guards.  Even the side panels feature elegantly contoured, chamfered and framed panels with scrolled aprons and cabriole legs in the back, making this piece a visual masterpiece no matter from what angle it is viewed!  The Regence style is known for being a more delicate interpretation of the Louis XIV style, and is revered world wide.
