18th Century Country French Whitewashed Commode was considered an essential furnishing in the 1700s as closets were virtually non-existent. This example, rendered from solid oak with hand-carved and hand-crafted construction, was built to last for centuries. The chest features an elegant hand-sculpted detail across the facade in bas relief depicting olive branches, ribbon and laurel swags, accentuated by intricately cast bronze pulls and key guards which are original to the piece. Centuries-old patina only adds to the allure! Painstakingly whitewashed by our expert in-house staff, it exudes a soft texture and pleasing visual effect ideal for a wide variety of styles and interiors.
