18th Century Country French Louis XVI Neoclassical Commode ~ Chest of Drawers is a timeless reminder of the everlasting splendor of the classical style, founded by the ancient Greeks and continued by the Romans thousands of years ago! This example, rendered by capable rural artisans from indigenous old-growth oak, was designed to last for generations, and features a tailored, rectilinear casework with subtle molding defining the solid plank top, bumped out at each corner to cover the fluted and reeded pilaster style corner posts which are topped with rosettes and tipped with tapered and fluted feet below. The corner posts provide a framework for the three drawers and apron, which are lavished with egg & dart molding, wildflower sprays, and fifteen rosettes, accented with brass key guards in the centers. The chamfered side panels exude understated elegance, making this wonderful instant family heirloom visually appealing from all angles. Drawers open to reveal cavernous storage, only adding to the allure.
