Country French Commodes

The rural craftsmen of old were so successful in creating their version of the antique Country French commode that the “big city” furniture houses began to copy them, a reversal that must have been exceedingly pleasing to craftsmen in the provinces. Here again, Country French commodes can be rustic, but refinements such as brass mounts, fine carved detail and even marble tops became accepted making this category so much fun just by itself!
