Mid-19th Century English Oak Wardrobe in Stripped Oak is an interesting design, with a two tiered effect only really noticeable when the doors are opened ~ two above and two below.  A tailored crown molding appears over the bonnet which has been hand-carved across the front with an interesting scrollwork and stylized foliate design.  Both the upper doors and the lower doors have complementary carved detail including ripe wheat and a flower blossom on a horizontal raised panel above two vertically oriented raised panels, which are otherwise unadorned.  A pair of fanciful steel strap hinges were used to hang each door, with ring pulls that allow easy access to the yawning interior within.  Three framed panels comprise the sides, helping to create visual charm from all angles.  Note the pegged mortise & tenon joinery used throughout the design, and the rustic hewn solid oak panels that were used to create the back.  Fascinating!
