18th Century French Painted Armoire from Normandie is a splendid example of rural craftsmanship with the signature style and flair developed in the fabled region, executed in seasoned old-growth indigenous oak to last for centuries! The tailored rectilinear architecture is enhanced with carved detail across the bonnet centered with a full relief of a floral basket. More carvings appear on the tops and middles of the doors, and down the center stile, all of which depict a celebration of the beautiful wildflowers for which Normandie is so famous. Barrel hinges allow the doors to open wide for easy access to the cavernous interior that sports a single shelf. Visual appeal is secured by a beautifully patinaed gray painted finish which highlights the carved detail and produces a soft effect.
