Rustic Trestle Coffee Table was crafted from thick beams of solid oak to literally last for centuries! Similar tables have been made for generations on a larger scale to serve as dining tables, inspiring this effort with the same construction method and materials for about as sturdy a coffee table as you can find! The top is thick planks ~ really beams ~ of quarter sawn oak supported by sturdy "X" structures on each end which are in turn connected and strengthened by a shimmed trestle fully mortised into the crux of each "X" structure. The triangular shims ensure the joint stays tight for decade after decade.
