19th Century French Walnut Renaissance Carved Center Table is an exceptional work of the sculptor's art that also happens to be a very functional table! Artistically carved across the entire top, the apron, the central pediment, and even the trio of scrolled legs, it must be examined closely to be fully appreciated! Using sumptuous walnut, the sculptor carved rose garlands just inside the foliate bordering of the edge, with another circle inside the grapevines depicting a vine motif, and finally at the center fully laden grapevines and wild foliage. The pediment is masterfully turned then carved with acanthus flourishes and floral rosettes, with the scrolled legs emanating out from the lower section just above an acorn finial. The legs feature more foliate embellishment to finish out the effect in style. What an exceptional example of Napoleon III master craftsmanship!
