18th Century Rustic Country French Console ~ Sofa Table is a wonderful example of Old World craftsmanship created from dense, old-growth oak that has been reinforced by expert artisans to soldier on for another century or two.  The density and hardness of the wood makes it difficult to work but once one is complete, in this case the table, will last for generation after generation.  The turned and tapered legs were each cut from single posts, and the aprons each from single planks.  A pair of drawers adds convenience to the design, each accessed with steel ring pulls.  The perfect size for behind a sofa, it also works as a console, hall table, or even on the stairwell landing.  The sturdy plank top makes it a good candidate to work as a platform for your big flat panel TV.
