19th Century Italian Neoclassical Painted Corner Cabinet ~ Vitrine is a marvelous combination of artistic form & function! The tailored, classically inspired architecture includes a triangular upper tier topped with a boldly arched crown and glazed door for display, and a quarter-cylinder casework below that provides space for a cabinet and drawer for storage. Subtle molding detail is the rule, with the hand-painted embellishments intended to capture all the attention, which is admirably accomplished. a wide variety of natural-themed and classically executed stylings are lavished on the entire front facade, with an olive green background on the surrounding framework and a more dark almond background on the door and drawer frames. Upon those backgrounds are depictions of shells, flowers and foliates in a broad palette of luscious earth and jewel tones. On the top of the lower cabinet surface, which creates a demilune form, is a delightful basket bursting with roses, for example, with floral sprays all across the drawer underneath, which is fitted with a pair of brass knobs so it can be pulled straight out for access. The lower composition depicts fishermen with a chinoiserie style influence, topped with more floral garlands and sprays. Even the side corners and base board are lavished with artistic hand-painted adornment! Note the hand-hewn chamfered panels on the back side, and the painted interior above for making your displayed collection or heirlooms "pop".
