18th Century French Louis XIV Cabinet ~ Armoire in Stripped Oak is a majestic testament to the incredible craftsmen of France, who combined architecture, style and timeless flair into one impressive piece. Utilizing indigenous old-growth white oak, a bold arched crown was fashioned, boldly molded in multiple tiers to accentuate the impact, and overlooking the arched doors of the upper tier. The corners not only project out from the piece, but are defined by mitered molding and corbels matched by the corbel centered at the top of the crown. Stylized shell motifs adorn the intricate molding detail of the cabinet doors which open to reveal five surfaces. The lower tier is a variation of the upper design, but slightly deeper for a cavernous interior, and features a brace of drawers separately distinguished by molding. Painstakingly stripped using our proprietary process that retains the patina and sheer natural beauty of the old wood, all performed by our expert in-house staff.
Dated 1754.
