18th Century Dutch Mahogany Linen Press is a magnificent rendition in the classical style that was revitalized during the second half of the 1700s, as it has been for millennia!  Starting with the crown, which is an intricately fashioned molding trim, it transitions via a bonnet veneered in mahogany such that the grain lines create a vertical pattern all across the facade.  Upper doors are fitted with bookmatched flame mahogany for a symmetrical effect, with tailored molding and half columns on the corners which are still parts of the doors, mounted with hinges such that the doors swing completely out of the way to access the linen drawers.  The lower tier consists of five drawers with two full width and two small square drawers fitted with jewelry-quality cast brass ring pulls with rosette guards, and a center smaller drawer accessible with key only.  Grain orientation on the three smaller drawers mimics the bonnet treatment at the top of the piece, with half-columns on the corners like the upper tier.  Fancy fluted legs provide support.  The Dutch were some of the earliest European craftsmen to utilize the exotic imported mahogany from the Americas that became so desirable even today.  Such pieces were family heirlooms, able to store all of a household's fine china, silver and linens in one place, and do it in timeless style!
