Mother’s Day Reflections ~ & Giveaway!

Antique Letter EngravingI remember my mother telling me: “You will understand me one day when you have your own children.” She was right, as a working mother and the engineer in the 60’s and 70’s she was a trailblazer. As an artistic person, she juggled career, family and home, at the same time writing poetry and always pursuing her artistic side. I only understood her challenges fully beginning about twenty some years ago, when I became a mother and started our antique business.
Mom has always been an inspiration to me, as well as the source for my foundations as she began to teach me about antiques, art and history from an early age. But the biggest inspiration she provided has been the strength of her character and her pioneering spirit.
Fast forward to today, our children have grown up: our son Chris is a great gourmet chef at the 2nd Street Bistro in Montana. Our daughter Rebecca is finishing college and working with us in the business, bringing a vibrant and young perspective. Both are creative and talented adults that are carving their imaginative niche in life, and my hope is that as they grow with their families, they will inspire their children as my mother and grandmother have inspired me.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere!

Being a mother is both the toughest job and the best job a woman can ever have, and I hope we all can continue to inspire and encourage the best in our future generations.

Inessa Stewarts Antiques & Interiors Celebrates 21 Years in Business

antique letterBack in 1991 John and I opened our doors in a small antique gallery, and at the time we were the only two employees.  I discovered that I had a good eye for antiques, and enjoyed researching, buying and restoring them to bring out their inherent beauty.  It developed into a passion, and here we are 21 years later looking back at a career that has involved families and businesses from all over the continent and even beyond, bringing the joy and beauty of antiques to countless homes and offices.

Inessa Stewart's Antiques

From the beginnings in the gallery over two decades ago we’ve expanded to over 50,000 square feet in three showrooms and in two states, and have become a great resource for homeowners, interior designers, and builders to create one-of-a-kind environments.

Being from Europe, it was natural for me to be surrounded by antiques.  Starting in my early childhood, I remember antiquing with my mother and visiting museums, always fascinated with the history, quality and elegance of antiques.  Being around art and antiques is both inspiring and gratifying, and I’ve been fortunate to have a successful career that has brought sublime satisfaction not only to our own family, but to clients across the country.

It’s hard to believe over two decades have now passed, and one question I’m frequently asked~ “Do you ever get tired of what you do?”  Of course with business and economic challenges. It’s not always easy, but my love for history, antiques and art has sustained and inspired me through the challenging times.

To commemorate this 21st anniversary, we’re holding a celebration event that encompasses all our merchandise in each of the three showrooms plus merchandise still in Europe awaiting shipment.  It’s our way of saying thanks for all the years our clients have enjoyed working with us, encouraged us, and provided a continuous wellspring of inspiration.
