Pair 19th Century Etched Glass Lamp Globes

Pair 19th Century Etched Glass Lamp Globes were designed for oil lanterns which were the dominant source of interior lighting prior to the widespread use of electric lighting around the turn of the 20th century.  Amazingly well-preserved, each is artistically created with an urn form and a pointed-tipped pie-crust rim, then the glass was smoked to render it slightly opaque to diffuse the light from the burning wick.  A pattern was also etched into the design depicting an elaborate scrollwork pattern with foliates surrounding a winged angel.
