19th Century French Neoclassical Sevres Spelter Hand-Painted Mantel Clock is a fascinating glimpse into the finery that was produced during the incredibly prosperous times of the Belle Epoque. This example depicts a classically posed maiden with flowers in one hand and a wreath in the other, apparently pondering the love of her life. An incredible display of Baroque magnificence has been created in the base below, with intricate detailing celebrating the wonders of nature. As a further accent, two oval porcelain inserts have been hand-painted in the style of wolrd-famous Sevres Porcelains depicting flying cherubs in vivid jewel tones. The gold finish on the spelter metal is in excellent condition, ready to serve another century in style.
