19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Canape with Cane & Cushion is an excellent choice for an intimate seating group! The combination of neoclassical styling, timeless architecture, and caned seat and seat back produce a light weight, attractive piece you'll cherish for decades to come. Spiral ribbon trim abounds encircling the entire seatback, continuing down the armrests to the support which is a tapered and fluted column topped with a rosette. Spiral ribbon also appears along the base of the apron, which is supported by tapered and fluted column legs. The painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, enhancing the fine carved detail even more. A custom cushion in mohair survives with the piece, and is in serviceable condition, but more importantly protected the seat for years, making this an instant family heirloom for some lucky customer!
