19th Century French Charles X Mahogany Sofa is the sublime expression of understated elegance! The style was born during a period of austerity when the court wished to downplay the excesses of the monarchy to appease the public, although such efforts ultimately proved irrelevant. Here we see exotic imported mahogany in an architectural design that magnifies the sheer natural beauty of the prized wood, with a straight horizontal seatback and front apron contrasting dramatically with the sweeping "S" scroll of the armrests. Upholstered on all sides, it's a great choice for placement in the center of the room. Recently upholstered, it remains quite serviceable. Note the bookmatching effect of the veneer on the lower apron panel, exemplifying the artistry of the craftsmen who so meticulously created this instant family heirloom.
