Vintage Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Mees is a charming post-impressionistic rendering of a quaint Belgian town along the canal.  Such canals were integral to most villages, providing a means to transport goods from town to town, as well as within the town itself.  Waterside properties were usually the most charming, some quite humble and others magnificent chateaux.  This scene depicts a stone bridge across the canal allowing foot traffic and perhaps even carriages passage.  The muted colors span the spectrum of natural earth tones, and the composition invites one to sit down and take in the scene.  Survives in its original frame.
