Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas signed E.X. Chaouet is a captivating pastoral inspired by the rolling hills around the northern French plains.  Here we see depicted an early Fall period, with colors just starting to change.  From the artist's vantage point, once can see the last vista of the valley before the geography opens to a plain upon which a small village has been sited in the distance.  One can almost smell the fresh air!  An overcast sky provides diffuse light onto the scene especially in the background, all rendered with a post-impressionistic technique.
