Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Louis Garot (1875-1936) is a splendid wintertime scene ideal for blending with muted earth tones and multiple shades of gray. Louis Garot was trained in the Belgian/Dutch school and was a sought-after Impressionist painter born circa 1900 in Brussels. His works are listed and mentioned in several notable Flemish art books. He is primarily known as a painter of landscapes, woods and still life, drawing much of his inspiration from the Sonian Forest. His use of paint is generous, and his palette is normally rich and bright, having a glittering light effect, However, for this work he toned down the colors to create a more realistic wintry effect, featuring a quaint country road that invites the viewer into the scene. This generously sized, wonderfully painted work survives in its original finely detailed giltwood frame.
Circa early 1900s
