Antique Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Hubert Glansdorff (1877-1963) represents an impressionist's interpretation of the timeless Still Life which artists have explored for eons. This work presents colorful wildflowers in a simple green glass vase on a table situated next to a window ~ in other words a classic vignette. Glansdorff has also added fabric folds and a painting on the wall as added visual features, as well as a pewter plate to create depth and intrigue. Surviving in its original frame, the painting is dated 1942, when all of Flanders was occupied during World War II, showing the resilience of the arts even under such amazing oppression.
