Antique Framed Oil Painting on Board by P. C. Balthazar, dated 1931 capture the essence of coastal life as it has existed for centuries along the northern Atlantic.  This scene combines the rustic cottage nestled in luxurious trees and foliage right along the waterline, with a small fishing scow headed in for the day in the distance.  Balthazar has also captured an unusual but not extremely uncommon lavender hue in the late afternoon sky.  The entire scene evokes a simpler time, indeed.  Painted on board and surviving in its original frame, in only 9 years it will be a century old!
