Antique Framed Oil Painting on Board by Lucien Houbiers (1876-1943) is dated April, 1928, and depicts a splendid impressionistic representation of the Ambleve river using a blue-dominant color palette. The Ambleve winds through the mountainous terrain of what is today eastern Belgium, and once was the site of the infamous "Battle of the Bulge" in World War 2 that occurred less than twenty years after this painting was created. Today it remains relatively wild by European standards, and is a haven for fly fishing. Painting survives in its original frame.
Dated April, 1928.
