Antique Framed Oil on Canvas by J. van Laer is a captivating landscape depicting a narrow country road through an old growth forest in late afternoon somewhere in the Netherlands.  Folks who frequent the road appear to barely keep the passage clear enough for travel, with the wilderness always trying to reclaim the land.  The artist's inspired use of fall colors dominated by various shades of gold and rich red accents bring a warmth to the scene, even though it's obvious a few brisk cold fronts have already blown through.  The position of the road invites the viewer into the scene, making one wonder what's just around the bend in the road.  Survives in its original frame, and signed by the artist.  One minor professional repair evident only in photo of the back side.
