19th Century Dutch Gilded Mirror in the French Louis XVI Style was produced by G. Dorens & Co. in Amsterdam just before the turn of the century.  The giltwood frame and detail are of the highest quality, rivaling their French competitors, but of course Mssr. Dorens had a French ancestry.  Four distinct tiers of molding detail surround the framework on the bottom and three sides, making it a good choice to hang freestyle on the wall, or to place atop a buffet, console or mantel.  The top of the mirror is most remarkable, with an additional partial shoulder of Greek coin added to the frame on each corner, and an elaborate centerpiece depicting an elegant lady in cameo form surrounded by sumptuous foliates, sprays and ribbon.  Richly fashioned foliates also cascade outward from the crest to tie back into the frame.  Mirror is in excellent condition, having been protected for well over a century by solid planks of wood, still intact on the back side!
