Mid-19th Century Italian Baroque Giltwood Mirror is a wonderfully well-preserved example of the master Italian sculptor's work! Intricate scroll, shell, foliate and floral motifs abound around the entire framework, pierce-carved (which is the most difficult of adornment to master) to perfection, and featuring one of the earliest examples of hand-beveled mirrors to appear on the European continent in the early second half of the 19th century. Subtle traces of silver crystallization are evident only upon close examination at the bottom, indicating this mirror was well-placed and survived over a century and a half in the same home, only to be brought here to the USA to provide enjoyment, reflected ambient light, and extraordinary beauty to your home for generations to come! Original gilded finish only adds to the allure. An exceptionally rare and incredible find!
