19th Century French Louis XVI Bronze Fireplace Fender Set was cast in amazing detail in three pieces:  The andiron guards and the fender crosspiece, designed so that the guards "slide" on the fender making it adjustable in size from 35" wide up to 53" wide, enabling it to accommodate a wide variety of fireplace openings.  Originally intended to protect flooring from errant sparks, the concept evolved to the this state as a decorative accent making the fireplace more visually stimulating.  Look closely to appreciate the intricate detail, with urns, pedestals, floral garlands, swags, flames and foliate flourishes, not to mention the bordering of egg & dart and Greek coin.  Perfect for adding an opulent finishing touch to your hearth!
