19th Century French Louis XVI Marble Top Buffet with Ormolu is a stunning work of the cabinetmaker's art, and if you act fast, you can also possess its twin! Part of a gracious dining room suite, the companion pieces can be viewed by clicking on the Related Products below left. Meticulously hand-crafted from solid oak, finely figured maple, luxurious cast bronze and honed marble, it is a testament to the superiority of French craftsmanship during the period. Rounded sides eliminate sharp corners for a pleasing visual effect, with cabinet doors that have been fitted with beveled glass allowing one display opportunities. The center doors feature fine molded detail surrounding the figured maple panels delineated with heart walnut French bordering. The top is a luxurious slab of marble contoured to follow the lines of the casework below, which exhibits neoclassical architecture inspired by the ancient Greeks and Romans, including two full height corbel pilasters separating the center cabinets from the rounded sides. The piece de resistance, however, is the luxurious cast bronze mounts including Greek wave, acanthus rosettes, laurel garlands, lion's paw feet and an intriguing classical style adaptation centered on the French bordered apron below. The combination of our proprietary stripped finish and the opulence of the marble and bronze create a unique blend of understated elegance!
