Antique French Louis XIV Secretary ~ Bookcase is a splendid example of multi-function furniture!  Serving as a chest of drawers, a writing desk, and a display bookcase all in one, it features solid oak construction from the arched bonnet to the four graceful cabriole legs.  At top, multi-paned display allows quick access or opportunities for showing off a collection or heirlooms.  Just below, a large slant-front opens to create a desktop surface, supported by pull outs, and revealing internal drawers and cubby holes.  Just under the desk are two full-width drawers for added versatility.  Carved detail from the bonnet to the cloven hoof feet includes shell and foliate motifs, accented by cast brass pulls and key guards for a rich effect.  The entire design is barely a foot and a half deep, making it very traffic friendly in the room!
