Antique Country French Double-Faced Desk was crafted by master artisans creating a superlative choice for any office! Finished on all four sides, it can be placed anywhere in the room, even the center. The contoured and double beveled top provides just enough surface for a productive workspace, and is supported by a casework that is masterfully sculpted in the manner of Louis XIV to depict shell and foliate motifs in a wide variety of configurations, but with symmetry as the overriding control. The sides are a perfect example, with shells and scrollwork enhanced by molded detail, appearing atop the apron carved en arbalette, or resembling an archer's bow, then carved with shell, foliate and cross hatching. The "business" side of the desk sports five drawers which will help you keep things nice and organized, and each drawer is a miniature, abbreviated version of the embellishment that appears on the side. On the face of each drawer also appears a gorgeous jewelry-like cast brass key guard. The "front" side of the desk is a duplication of the same facade, but without the key guards and key holes. Support is provided by elegant cabriole legs carve4d with acanthus plumes and cloven hoof feet. Raised to accommodate 21st century physiques thanks to our expert in-house professional staff!
